Thank you GNAO Members

Dear GNAO Member

Our world has been forever changed by the COVID-19 pandemic.  All Ontarians have been impacted, directly or indirectly, during this uncertain time.  For us as Gerontological nurses, this pandemic is perhaps more devastating as it is critically impacting our nursing homes and retirement homes.  As an interest group of RNAO, GNAO continues to support the hard work, dedication and advocacy that has been done to inform decision makers around changes that need to be adopted to support this vulnerable sector. RNAO has been a strong voice, advocating for increased support for long-term care, testing, case and contact tracing and self-isolation. This advocacy has assisted in the new COVID-19 Action Plan for Long-Term Care Homes.

Now is a time where it is important that we continue to support each other.  Not only in the amazing compassion and care that we provide to our older adult population but also in ensuring that we are caring for ourselves. CGNA, our national association of which GNAO is a conjoint member, offered suggestions for how to do just that in their message of support to members.

Below are some additional educational resources that you may find helpful:

This pandemic is challenging the dedication and resiliency of us all but together we will get through this. We will not stop our work with RNAO, WeRPN, and CGNA, ensuring that your voices are being heard. On behalf of the GNAO board, thank you for everything you do, the sacrifices you have made and above all, the excellent care that you continue to provide during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with you all.

Sincerely,
