Hello GNAO members,

As we approach the end of winter and heading towards the AGM and Biennial Conference, we would like to share some engagement GNAO opportunities with GNAO.

Call for NOMINATIONS For 2020-2022 GNAO Board of Directors

GNAO is pleased to announce three available Board of Directors positions – 

  • Membership Chair, 
  • Student/ New Graduate Liaison and 
  • Professional Advocacy Director

The call for nominations is now open and will remain open until Friday, March 20, 2020. We invite you to check out the documents (Call for Nominations and Role Descriptions) and to share your intent to stand for election by emailing GNAO Past President, Julie Rubel.

We hope many of you will consider these influential roles, we need your leadership and passion to continue to shape our GNAO future!

The Nomination period will close on March 20, 2019.

GNAO Biennial AGM & Conference: Inspiring & Informing Health Aging

The GNAO 2020 Biennial AGM & Conference will be held on Thursday, April 23 to Friday April 24, 2020 at the Ajax Convention Centre, 550 Beck Crescent, Ajax, ON, L1Z 1C9. GNAO Student Conference and Membership Grant for the 2020 GNAO Biennial AGM & Conference

The Gerontological Nursing Association of Ontario (GNAO) is providing a grant to subsidize a nursing student’s attendance at the GNAO Biennial Conference. 

All registered nursing and/or registered practical nursing students are eligible for up to $525 in reimbursement to the GNAO Conference!

We are excited to announce an opportunity available to nurses passionate about gerontological nursing living within an inactive GNAO chapter, thus not fully engaged with GNAO activities. You are encouraged to participate in this grant opportunity to support your attendance at the 2020 GNAO Biennial conference and rekindle, not just your passion for gerontology, but also to learn how you can re-energize your Chapter. 

All current membership from the following areas are eligible for up to $525 in reimbursement to the GNAO Conference:

  • South East Chapter: Hastings, Lennox-Addington, Frontenac, Prince Edward, Leeds & Grenville, (East) Includes: Kingston, Belleville, Napanee, Gananoque, Brockville, Trenton, Brighton, Picton
  • London & Area Chapter: Oxford, Perth, Middlesex, Elgin, Huron Includes: London, St, Thomas, Woodstock, Stratford, Tillsonberg
  • Greater Ottawa Area Chapter: Ottawa-Carleton, Lanark, Renfrew, Russell Prescott, Dundas, Stormont, Glengary, Leeds & Grenville (West) Includes: Ottawa, Renfrew, Carleton Place, Smith Falls, Perth, Cornwall
  • Bluewater Chapter: Grey and Bruce Counties Includes: Wiarton, Kincardine, Hanover, Flesherton, Meaford, Owen Sound, Goderich, Collingwood, Alliston, Midland 

All you need to do is to complete the respective forms and submit an expressive piece. Your expressive piece can be anything you would like! Sample submission ideas include poetry, videos, traditional art, and even internet memes! We want you to think outside the box! The winning submission will be shared with conference participants and with GNAO across the province via our website.

All submission forms and expressive pieces must be completed in full and submitted by Friday March 20th, 2017 at 11:59PM EST. Please send your completed submissions and/or questions to Melanie Kelly at melkelly@sympatico.ca
