The Community Health Nurses of Canada is pleased to announce the launch of the updated CHNC Home Health Nursing Competencies (2024).
CHNC, in collaboration with SE Health, engaged with Home Health Nurses across the country to review and update the CHNC HHN Competencies (2010). This update will provide clear direction to equip nursing leaders and point-of-care providers with the evidence necessary to guide and support the practice of home health nurses to work with purpose and positively contribute to the health and social care of everyone in Canada.

As Ontario’s toxic drug crisis rages on, while the premier is planning to gut and prohibit harm reduction programming, health professionals have to bear the brunt of a government who seems to be prioritizing ideology over the need for critical, evidence-based health-care services. This dichotomy has a lasting effect on people’s engagement with the health care system.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours and remembers all children and Survivors impacted by residential schools. The history of pain and suffering brough on by residential schools is publicly acknowledged and commemorated – a key step in the path of reconciliation.
The Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group is excited to announce that we will be offering FREE student membership for undergraduate student nurses from Sept. 16th to October 31st. If you are a faculty member, please share this opportunity with your students.

Nominations are now being accepted for the following positions for a two-year office unless otherwise noted. (Note: at the termination of the two-year term, you are eligible to stand for a second term of two years).
Dear members:
On May 28, organizations across Ontario are rallying at Queen’s Park to demand that government fund supervised consumption sites (SCS) and consumption and treatment sites (CTS) across the province. RNAO is participating in the rally.
Nearly 10 Ontarians die every day from toxic drugs. Ontario lost almost 3,800 people to this scourge in 2023. Communities are grieving. This is avoidable!
CHNIG is proud to be offering two $500 bursaries to members who are planning to attend our upcoming RNAO and CHNIG AGMs from Thursday, June 20th to Saturday, June 22nd at the Hilton Hotel, Toronto.
The Professional Development Bursary was established by the Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) in recognition of the need to support CHNIG members in their interest and participation in the annual RNAO and CHNIG AGMs.
The Community Health Nurses' Initiative Group is interested in hearing from its members for the upcoming Members Voices Report! The Members Voices Report is your chance to share how you, or your organization have contributed to advancing the nursing profession!
