Spring
The winter dare we say is retreating from our Chapter and the spring means we can celebrate nursing in May. I look forward to meeting Chapter members online in a virtual setting, as the members live in an area bordered by Bradford north of Newmarket, to Beeton and Tottenham, to the north, Alliston, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, and Midland to the north, and Barrie, Springwater, and Oro-Medonte to the east. There are a number of activities that we can be involved in, especially Queen's Park on the Road (QPOR). The status of RNs is described as a crisis--as nurses leave clinical practice related to burnout, workload, and violence. Housing is also a key issue, and many of us know that homelessness is multi-generational, and there are a number of factors that cause individuals and families to have precarious housing. Primary care is also a priority, as thousands of Ontarians don't have a primary care practitioner to support their health needs. The QPOR needs volunteers to meet with local MPPs to profile these priorities (remote via Microsoft Teams). Interested? Contact Policy Department Coordinator Ann Marie Morris ([email protected]), who will provide me with your contact information.
Take care and look forward to hearing from some keen volunteers.
