Wed, Oct 12 - Virtual Session On Decriminalization Of Substances For Personal Use

Posted on Oct. 7, 2022, 3:46 p.m.

On behalf of the Waterloo Chapter Executive:

Mark the date:
Oct. 12, 2022 from 6 – 7 p.m. for a virtual session on decriminalization of substances for personal use

In preparation for the municipal election later this month, we are fortunate to have Michael Parkinson, a leader in harm reduction and social advocacy, speak to us about decriminalization so that you can gain a greater understanding of this important part of harm reduction. This knowledge will help you make an informed decision when you vote for your mayor. It can also help make you a better advocate for those who use drugs.

As of August 2022, Waterloo region has lost 87 more individuals to drug-related deaths. Across Ontario, there has been an 85 per cent increase in opioid deaths in Ontario compared to 2019. Eight people a day are dying as a result of a poison drug supply.

We hope to see you at this meeting, which will also be open to some of our neighbouring chapters.

Please register for the session by visiting this web link: https://myrnao.ca/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1316

(Once you have registered, you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link and other details needed to join the meeting.)

If you have colleagues who wish to attend, please let them know that they can join RNAO now – they will get all the benefits including additional personal liability protection free for the rest of October 2022.

With regards,

Kathy Moreland, RN, MScN

RNAO Waterloo chapter president
