Hamilton's Resolution:
The Ontario healthcare system faces ongoing challenges due to COVID-19 and chronic underfunding, resulting in Ontario having Canada's lowest RN-to-capita ratio. To match other Canadian provinces, Ontario urgently needs an additional 25,000 RNs. Heavy workloads lead to nurse burnout, increased mental health challenges, physical injuries, and declining patient care quality, including higher mortality rates, readmissions, and financial strain on healthcare systems.
Multiple regions globally, including California, have successfully implemented mandatory nurse-to-patient ratios, significantly improving nurse retention, reducing occupational injuries, and enhancing patient care quality. Hamilton's resolution calls for similar measures to support nurses and safeguard patient outcomes in Ontario.
Why Attend the AGM?
Network, engage with peers, and influence nursing practices in Ontario. Your involvement is critical in advocating for meaningful change and better healthcare outcomes.
Let’s support Hamilton’s nursing leaders, Ashley and Trinity, in advocating for safer staffing ratios that protect both nurses and patients.
Thank you for your dedication and support!
Warm regards,
RNAO Hamilton Chapter
