Hello Algoma Chapter Members,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend and are staying healthy!

We are bringing you an exciting and informative COVID-19 Algoma Vaccine Update today:

As of October 29th, 85.4% of the eligible population (12+) in Algoma is fully vaccinated. This is an exciting milestone as we work towards community immunity and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

Up Next: Children 5-11 Years

There are currently no COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in Canada for children born after 2009. Health Canada is reviewing data on the safe and effective use of COVID-19 vaccines for this age group. Algoma Public Health will continue to keep the public informed as soon as a safe and effective vaccine is approved for use by Health Canada, and guidance is received by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and the Province of Ontario.

In the meantime, if you have children or clients in this age group, Algoma Public Health is looking to you to help plan the vaccine rollout for this age group. They want to hear your intentions and preferences for vaccination, and any questions you want answered. The survey takes 5-minutes, and all responses remain anonymous.

You can complete the SURVEY HERE.

Please feel free to circulate this to friends and colleagues.

Free Ontario Vaccination Consults

If you have colleagues, family, or friends who still have questions they need answered before they feel confident in receiving their COVID-19 vaccination, here are two free resources:

  • Sick Kids COVID-19 Consult Service: Free phone consult service available to children and parents or guardians to answer questions about your specific situation and the COVID-19 vaccines. Book online or by phone.
  • Scarborough Health Network VaxFacts: Free virtual consultation with a physician to answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccines. Open to all Ontario residents.
