Congrats Algoma

Hello Algoma Chapter Members,

We hope this message finds each of you and your families healthy and well.

We are thrilled to share that at the RNAO AGM in June 2021, the Algoma Chapter was awarded Chapter of the Year!

Over the last few years, the Algoma Chapter has increased in membership and recruited representation from acute care, public health, community care, long-term care, and academia to the Chapter Executive. We now have a full executive composed of RNs, NPs, and nursing students who aspire to help local nurses connect, learn, advocate, and share resources.

Highlights from 2020-2021:

  • Opioids: The Forgotten Crisis Webinar (May 2020, Recording Here) – Pillars of the Canadian Drugs and Substances Strategy
  • Region 11 Fall Tour & Student Success Series on Speaking Up, Self-Care, and Strategies for Online Learning in Nursing (November 2020)
  • Virtual Chapter AGM: Active Nurses Algoma (November 2020) – Self-Care, Managing Stress, and Physical Activity
  • Marion Marks Scholarship – Sault College BScN Student (SBA Virtual Ceremony, 2021)
  • Bimonthly Executive Committee Meetings
  • Algoma Chapter Facebook (@RNAO Algoma Chapter)
  • Algoma Vaccination Information Sharing
  • F.J Davey Home – Receives BPSO Designation (2021) – Congratulations to all!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the F.J Davey Home for being an outstanding partner of the RNAO Algoma Chapter and for providing virtual meeting support.

Thank you for your dedication to nursing and health in Algoma. We look forward to continuing to work together throughout 2020-2021 to raise awareness of pressing community health issues and nursing needs in Algoma.

As rates of Covid-19 vaccination continue to rise in Algoma and beyond, we also look forward to the day we can safely gather and celebrate together in person.

Congrats to each of our Algoma Chapter members!
