Algoma Chapter Nurses' Week Dinner - Postponed

Hello RNAO Algoma Members,

We hope you and your family are staying well and healthy!

I want to start by thanking each of you for your dedication to nursing, our community, and responding to Covid-19 in whatever capacity that may be – both at work and at home. You are outstanding, and Algoma is so very grateful for all that you are doing to keep us safe.

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve by the hour, it is with much sadness that the Algoma Chapter Executive must postpone the Nurses’ Week Dinner initially planned for May 6th, 2020.

As an Executive, our first priority is the health and safety of our general membership, their families, and patients. In addition, statements from the PHAC discourage gatherings of over 50 people for the next couple of months due to the increased transmission risk of the virus.

In such, we have chosen to stop all events moving forward that require members to gather in-person until the COVID-19 situation has been reassessed and RNAO, as informed by our public health agencies, feels the risk has diminished.

We intent to reschedule our event for October 2020 and hope this will be a time to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, and most optimistically – the amazing work of nurses in Algoma to end the spread of Covid-19.

At this time, all in-person Executive meetings have also been postponed to abide by social distancing and self-isolation practices.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through Covid-19 and determine the best course of action for 2020 events.

Please let us know if RNAO can do anything to support you in your work during this time. We are here for you.

Wishing you all good health,

Liliana Bressan, RN, BScN, MPH Candidate
