Halton Chapter Elections - Call for Nominations

Posted on June 16, 2019, 11:17 p.m.

Dear Members,

It is with pleasure that I announce that several positions are available in the Halton Chapter Executives. This role will begin on November 1, 2019. If you are interested in any of the positions, please do not hesitate to fill in the nomination form and submit to haltonchapter@gmail.com.

The Halton Chapter is an active RNAO Chapter with approximately 1500 members across Oakville, Burlington, Georgetown, and Milton. We are dedicated to nurses at all stages of their careers. In June, we consistently have sponsored a Cakes and Convos event focused primarily on New Graduates to help them get started on their career.

A benefit of joining the executive team is that you will be exposed to dynamic leaders in the Health Care system. It is an excellent networking opportunity. Taking part in the activities within this group will further enhance your capacity for leadership. You will stay abreast with all the important news relevant to your career as a nurse.

We encourage anyone interested and who has a passion to contribute to the growth of the nursing profession to fill out a nomination form for the following open positions:

  • President-elect/Chair-elect
  • Communications Executive Network Officer
  • Finance Executive Network Officer
  • Membership Executive Network Officer
  • Workplace Liaison

Roles and Responsibilities

  • President - Organizes executive meetings; produces Members' Voices reports to share the work of the group; represent the group at RNAO meetings (Assembly, Annual General Meeting, and the Annual Day at Queen's Park) as well as in the public and media as needed; recruit, mentor, and support other executive members in their roles; ensure dissemination of information from RNAO to executive and members; manage funds along with the Finance ENO.
  • Communications ENO – Edits the group newsletter; writes media releases and opinion pieces (with support of the Home office); monitors media and raises the profile and prestige of nurses; takes photos and documents group events.
  • Finance ENO – Creates a budget each year, together with the rest of the executive; keep a bank account and records of the groups’ revenue and spending; provide financial reporting to Home Office annually.
  • Membership ENO – Engages in recruitment efforts for potential members; encourages existing members to get involved. Home Office can assist in coordinating email communications to members; recognizes great members by submitting nominations for RNAO Recognition Awards, together with the rest of the executive team; reaches out to former members to ask them to rejoin.
  • Workplace Liaison ENO – Connects with workplaces and workplace liaisons in their area; brings the interests of nurses at work to the executive and help to recruit new individual workplace liaisons in nursing workplaces when needed.

Looking forward to your nomination form. Please submit using this link https://myrnao.ca/Halton_CfN_2019 by August 1, 2019.

Sincerely,

Dr. Louela Manankil-Rankin
