Dear RNAO Region 7 members,
As Political Executive Network Officer for Toronto East Region of the RNAO, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario’s 21st annual Take Your MPP To Work event, to be facilitated virtually again this year due to COVID-19. This year's focus will be nurse wellness.
TYMTW has been an annual event since 2001 when the three political party leaders went to work with a registered nurse to see firsthand the skills and expertise required to provide important health-care services to Ontarians. Since that time, TYMTW has grown to become an annual, popular engagement activity for RNAO members and MPPs alike. Premiers, Cabinet Ministers, Opposition Leaders and Critics and many MPPs have gone to work with registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and nursing students in hospitals, community health centres, family health teams, nurse practitioner-led clinics, long-term care homes, public health units, post-secondary institutions, and even street health settings.
While 2021’s event will not provide an in-person experience, it will nevertheless provide our political leaders with important insights into the work of nurses and the role of nursing through this unrelenting and devastating pandemic. For nurses and our health system partners, TYMTW is an exciting and empowering opportunity to engage in the political process and help MPPs understand the issues they face.
We are seeking nurses and health system partners to host a TYMTW virtual event. Please email me at erinmcp@gmail.com if you are interested in hosting a virtual event with your local MPP and provide the days and times that you are available. I will connect with you directly to discuss the meeting, connect with the MPP and assist you in running the event.
We look forward to the opportunity to showcase the vital role of nursing.
Stay well,
Erin McPherson, RN, BScN, MSN, PPAEN RNAO Region 7
