ONEIG wants to hear from you! At our March quarterly meeting*, we launched a. VERY short survey where you can be a part of our Earth Day campaign and help us decide if we want to change our name! The survey will only be open until April 10th so please get your thoughts in soon to help us grow and work better for you, the environment, and health.

Attention writers! We would love it if you would submit a picture (with description) or a short article/poem related to the environment and nursing for our next newsletter! Email oneigrnao@gmail.com if you're interested! Deadline for the spring newsletter is also April 10th!

News and Action: There are a number of time-sensitive campaigns happening as Ontario adds more fracked methane gas plants. We have heard from environmental experts that this plan is dangerous for our health, but it is also expensive (although currently subsidized) and, in some cases, they add more emissions than coal. Right now, the Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign is promoting two important upcoming events:

April 5: Training Session for Beyond Gas-Power Advocacy Days

April 18: Beyond Gas: Ontario's Energy Future
"Join experts exploring renewable energy solutions for a thriving liveable future in Ontario as the alternative to gas-fired electricity"

"The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's most recent AR6 Synthesis report for its sixth cycle (AR6) was unequivocal – no new fossil fuel infrastructure is to be built and all developed countries must reach net-zero electricity generation by 2035. Ontarians: together we can diffuse Ontario's methane climate bomb!"

(Quote from the organizers of the April 5th training session)

Don't forget to join us for our joint event with the Community Health Nurses' Initiative Group tonight (Monday, March 27). Registration is required.  See you there!

*We had many technical issues with registration for our quarterly meeting. We will post the video of the content so you are aware of what we have been up to as soon as possible. Subscribe to our youtube channel to see our latest videos as soon as they are posted!
