Dear Colleague,
First and foremost, we would like to extend a thank you to our members for attending and helping to make our 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) a great success via Zoom!
We look forward to when it is safe for all of us to get together again, but are happy to have made history this year by hosting our very first virtual AGM where we were able to connect from a distance to highlight and celebrate our interest group’s achievements, review the Board of Director nominations, and listen to your ideas, concerns, and feedback! In addition, we feel very humbled to receive the “RNAO Interest Group of the Year” Award.
As your new CHNIG President, I am also ecstatic to announce your CHNIG Board of Directors for 2020-2021:
President – Susan Tam
Past President – May Tao
Treasurer – Suzana Tavares

Congratulations to everyone – I look forward to working with each and every one of you!
Please note that we received a lot of interest and inquiries for the nominations and received three (3) nominations for the OPHA Liaison Board position after the first “Call for Nomination” period; subsequently two of the candidates have decided to withdraw their names. With that said, we are delighted to welcome Kerrianne Thompson to our CHNIG Board as she brings with her many years of experience as a patient and family caregiver advocate, public health nurse, liaison, and nursing student preceptor!
Please visit our website [http://www.chnig.org/about-us/board-of-directors/] to learn more about each of your CHNIG Board members.
As I embark in my two-year term as President, I will work together with the Board of Directors and our CHNIG Members to continue to act as a voice for community health nurses (CHNs), influence health and social policy, build capacity and leadership among CHNs, strengthen the profile of CHNs, and engage with nurses and students through various ways.
Let me close by urging you all to engage with us, fulsomely and often. We invite you to email website@chnig.org with your questions, your suggestions, and your interest in participating in any of the following CHNIG committees:
- Policy and Political Action Committee
- Professional Practice Committee
- Research, Education, and Professional Development Committee
- Student Committee
We truly hope that you will take advantage of these opportunities to learn, share, and connect with your CHN colleagues.
Thank you for your continuous support! We hope you and your families stay safe and healthy!
Sincerely,
CHNIG Board
