An important notice to MCNIG members

Dear MCNIG member,

With over two thousand five hundred RN, NP and nursing student members, Maternal Child Nurses’ Interest Group (MCNIG) is one of RNAO’s biggest interest groups. MCNIG plays a very important role in nursing, health and health care, as its Mission states: “MCNIG promotes excellence in perinatal nursing and promotes optimal health for women, families and infants from preconception and across the continuum of the childbearing year.”

In the last five years, without a viable executive committee, the bulk of MCNIG’s activities to deliver values and services to its members have been carried out by Leigh Baetz-Craft, MCNIG Chair. In spite of numerous calls for nominations, the situation has not changed.  In order for the interest group to meet  the minimum functions* of an RNAO interest group and reporting requirements, the RNAO Board asks that MCNIG elect a minimum of four core executive members by August 1st, 2018 or MCNIG’s interest group status will be rescinded.

We are confident that there are many members with the expertise and/or passion to be part of MCNIG’s executive to make a difference in this important area of nursing. Look for a “call for nomination” on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Take this opportunity to fill the leadership team and take MCNIG to new heights.

Warm regards,

Doris

Doris Grinspun, RN, MSN, PhD, LLD(hon), Dr(hc), O.ONT.
Chief Executive Officer
Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)
