OCHNA Update

Posted on Feb. 28, 2022, 2:58 p.m.

Hi all

2022 is off to a roaring start. With pandemic measures being lifted hopefully we can all get back to some form of normal activity.  I am sure we all have the Ukraine and the people of Russia in our hearts and hope a swift resolution to that conflict occurs.

Our executive is meeting next week to determine what we can do for a spring meeting. If you have any educational ideas please email me and let me know what you may like to see at tammy.datars@sheridancollege.ca.

This past year one of our executive Jacquelin Anderson left the post secondary world and has headed back to acute care.  We wish her all the best!! As a result that left a hole in our team. Please welcome Dayana Wolski who will be filling that gap. I have included a small BIO about her below.

Our team will keep you posted on what spring activity we land on and a small hope that it may actually have the potential of being in person!!!

Cheers

Hello everyone,

My name is Dayana Wolski and I have been a Registered Nurse at the Humber College Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre since 2008.

Throughout my career at Humber, I have observed immense growth in the services we provide, the diversity of our student body and the complexity of their physical and mental health needs. I have developed an interest in supporting marginalized populations in the areas of women’s health, mental health, sexual health and LGBTQ+ health. I also take pride in my ability to support international students as I understand the challenges of being new to the country and lacking social networks.

In addition to my role as a campus nurse, I am an advocate for breastfeeding. I have a certificate in breastfeeding support from Humber College and currently volunteer for the Halton Public Health Breastfeeding Connections program where I encourage moms to breastfeed their babies and help them work through some of the challenges that may happen in the early days following birth.

I look forward to connecting with other campus nurses and share in our expertise. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, my two sons and our dog. I am originally from Venezuela. I speak Spanish and enjoy dancing to Latin music!
