This workshop will explore how nurses can transition from traditional bedside roles into positions that focus on prevention, population health, and organizational wellbeing in occupational health.
Occupational health nursing is one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing specialties in nursing, yet many student nurses are never exposed to this career path during their training. This engaging 45-minute workshop introduces participants to the role occupational health nurses play in protecting the health and safety of workers across industries such as health care, construction, manufacturing, and corporate environments.
Participants will gain an overview of the scope of occupational health nursing, including workplace injury prevention, infection control, psychological health and safety, disability management, and return-to-work programs. The session will also explore how nurses can transition from traditional bedside roles into positions that focus on prevention, population health, and organizational wellbeing.
Drawing from real-world examples, this workshop will highlight how occupational health nurses serve as critical leaders in shaping safer and healthier workplaces.
