CHNIG Awards and Grants

Greetings CHNIG Members!

As part of your membership in CHNIG, you are eligible for financial support for professional development.  Please submit an application form along with the required supplementary documents.

The following awards are available on a yearly basis:

Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) Education Award
This year, CHNIG is offering one education award to a registered nurse pursuing advanced education. The successful applicant will be a registered nurse currently working in, or intending to work in, community health nursing. The individual must have a strong academic record and be a member of CHNIG for at least one year. The deadline for all supporting documents is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The successful recipient will be announced and presented with a $2000.00 award at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting.

Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) Research Award
This year, CHNIG is offering two research awards to a registered nurse pursuing research in community health nursing at the masters or doctoral levels. The award may also be given to a community health nurse who wishes to undertake research in a clinical setting and has been a member of CHNIG for at least one year. The deadline for all supporting documents is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The successful recipients will be announced and presented with a $3000.00 award at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting.

Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) New Researcher Grant
This year, CHNIG is offering one research grant to a new research investigator pursuing research in community health nursing and has been a member of CHNIG for at least one year. The deadline for all supporting documents is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59p.m.

The successful recipient will be announced and presented with a $3000.00 award at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting.

Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group (CHNIG) Undergraduate Student Grant
This year, CHNIG is offering two undergraduate student grants to nursing students pursuing undergraduate education with a commitment and interest in community health nursing. The successful applicant will be a student nurse currently engaged in community health nursing related activities. The individual must be a member of CHNIG for at least one year. The deadline for all supporting documents is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The successful recipients will be announced and presented with a $500.00 award at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting.

Beatrice McDonough Award of Excellence in Community Health Nursing 2025
Do you know a community health nurse in practice who has demonstrated expertise in practice, demonstrated professionalism, leadership and good interpersonal skills? If so, then nominate this nurse today for the Beatrice McDonough Award of Excellence in Community Health Nursing 2025. Self-nominations are also accepted.

Every year, CHNIG recognizes the exemplary clinical practice of a community health nurse. The nominee is a community health nurse providing nursing services to individuals, families, communities, or populations, and must be a current member of CHNIG. The deadline for all supporting documents is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The successful recipient will receive a crystal award along with a one-year RNAO and CHNIG membership and will be announced at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting.
