National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours and remembers all children and Survivors impacted by residential schools. The history of pain and suffering brough on by residential schools is publicly acknowledged and commemorated – a key step in the path of reconciliation.
Orange Shirt Day resonates the important messaging – Every Child Matters. This commemorative day is Indigenous-led and raises awareness of the generational impacts that residential schools have stained history with. Wearing orange on this day is a symbol of what had been stolen from Indigenous children.
On Monday September 30, wearing orange honours all Survivors of residential schools.
