Dear member,

Nursing Week is May 8–14, and it’s our opportunity to celebrate the amazing nurses in RNAO’s Brampton and Mississauga Chapters and the Community Health Nurses’ Initiative Group (CHNIG).  We’ll be profiling nurses in alignment with RNAO’s recent Nursing Careers Pathway report, which outlines how nurses are educated and what domains and sectors they work in. The report celebrates nurses who remain positive during these challenging times.

As part of your membership in CHNIG, you are eligible for financial support for professional development. The following awards and bursaries are available on a yearly basis:

The Community Health Nurses' Initiatives Group (CHNIG) is encouraging our members to submit resolutions for review and discussion at the CHNIG Annual General Meeting. The deadline for resolutions this year is May 31, 2023. Members who submit resolutions to CHNIG’s 2021 AGM are raising the profile of important issues, and engaging colleagues in discussions that matter to community health nursing.

Join us on March 27th from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm for a presentation on Understanding the Current State of Nursing, the Environment, and Legislation.

Through the lens of the Social Determinants of Health, nurses are aware that the quality of the environment in which we live, work and play has an effect on human health. 

Nurses may be concerned about the impact that changes to the built or natural environment around them may have on human health.

The CNA certification recognizes your unique community practice focus and reaffirms certified nurses are qualified, competent, and current in the practice of community health nursing.
