Hello everyone,

Thank you to all who attended our online meeting last night on self-care. Our speakers were wonderful. Please see the attached photos!

I'm writing to let you know about some events of interest that are currently going on or coming up soon.

1. FREE MEMBERSHIP FOR STUDENTS: RNAO is currently offering free membership to all BScN /RPN-BScN students! If you are precepting or working with any students, please let them know and encourage them to join. This is a limited time offer. To join, they'll need to visit join.rnao.ca

2. QUEEN'S PARK DAY:Two of the chapter executives will be attending Queen's Park Day events on chapter's behalf. At these meetings, we get to meet with regional MPPs and their staff to discuss issues and be your voice. We will be focusing a lot of time on the continuing issues of staff shortages, Bill 124/compensation, increasing acuity and the impact of continued strain on our health-care system. WE NEED YOUR STORIES so that we can help our MPPs understand the gravity of the situation. Please email me through the chapter email.

**Also, we are also open to bringing two more members with us. You would have to commit to staying in Toronto from March 1–3. Contact me if you are interested.

3. NURSING WEEK 2023: SAVE THE DATE FOR THURSDAY, MAY 11, 6–9 p.m.! We are tentatively planning an in-person meeting and dinner to celebrate Nursing Week. Stay tuned for details to come.

4.  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Do you want to become more politically active and see RNAO in action? It's not too early to start thinking about the RNAO AGM that will be held in Toronto from June 22–24. We will be looking for consultation representatives to represent our chapter for voting on resolutions and student representatives to sponsor. It's also a great way to connect with other RNs and have some fun! (We all need that!).

This will be the first in-person AGM since COVID started. If selected to represent our chapter, your travel and accommodations costs will be covered. If you're interested, please contact me through the chapter email.

We would also like you to consider nominating yourself or one of your colleagues for an RNAO recognition award. Application is due Feb. 16 at 4:30 p.m. To learn more, visit https://rnao.ca/about/awards/recognition-awards

Please know that we are here to SERVE YOU. Let us know of any speaker or event ideas that would be of interest and we will try to oblige.

Some examples: We have upcoming events planned exploring climate change and the in's and out's of liability coverage. We have also been very active meeting with regional MPPs to advocate for nurses and nursing.

The past three years have tested our resolve, creativity and grit in ways that no one could ever have anticipated. Please reach out if there is anything you feel we can do to support you.

With regards,

Kathy Moreland, RN, MScN,

President – Waterloo chapter (on behalf of the chapter executive)
