Dear member,
Happy fall!
We would like to introduce ourselves as your current executive of the Muskoka Huronia Parry Sound Chapter of RNAO. If you have interest in taking on an executive role on the chapter, we would love to hear from you as there are some openings available.
We are excited to support you and the goals of RNAO at a local level. We feel we are positioned to carry on the good work of our past executive members while promoting your vision and ideas.
We have some funds available to host a networking event and would be happy to plan that for the near future. We were thinking of Bracebridge as the location with wine, cheese, and a speaker for the main event. We understand we could also access a speaker on an interesting topic relating to our professional responsibilities and might work that in to the "get to know RNAO event".
If you have ideas, please let us know. We want to be the chapter you want us to be... give us a shout!
RNAO privacy rules are such that email and contact information cannot be shared with us, thus join Facebook, tell us your email and we will keep you up to date.
Enjoy your fall and we shall set up something for us to meet in the near future.
Thank you - Lee-Ann, Rebecca, Jenna

As a member of RNAO and a registered nurse living and working in Parry Sound, I have been a volunteer for RNAO in the capacity of being a member of the provincial elections committee. As a registered nurse, I have been active in political action campaigns, social activist initiatives and as a professional practice leader. It has been my interest to become further involved in RNAO at the local level for some time and I can now commit to that time. I am flexible to the needs of members and can travel to Toronto when the need arises. I have been a staunch supporter of nurses, nursing practice, political action, technology initiatives, and quality patient care.

As a registered nurse of 7.5 years and a relatively new RNAO member, I feel volunteering for this organization will expand my nursing involvement, advocacy and collaboration amongst our professional community. This opportunity will allow me to take a different approach to nursing leadership within my nursing career. To become an advocate and liaison for student nurses will allow me the opportunity to welcome and provide support for our future nursing colleagues.

I believe that the pursuit of health is not for health itself, but for the fact that it allows us to pursue our unique interests and the things that make our lives meaningful. Given the current political climate, health and health care face many challenges. However, with each challenge comes opportunity, and as the RNAO policy and political action executive network officer,I intend on capitalizing on this. Throughout my nursing experience, I have demonstrated my ability to function both autonomously, and as an effective member of a team. I effectively organize, prioritize, and advocate for the needs of the individuals and populations I provide care for. I have exceptional oral and written communication skills, and I believe wholeheartedly that to affect change, how you deliver your message is often more important than the message itself. My personal interests within nursing pertain to healthy early childhood development, prevention and management of chronic disease, and appropriate end-of-life and palliative care. However, I am prepared to collaborate with individuals and organizations throughout our region and advocate for the issues other nurses identify. With a growing number of seniors, an influx of young families, a population that doubles in the summer months, high rates of chronic disease, and a primarily rural landscape, our chapter needs a representative that understands the unique challenges faced by the communities within it.
