Cakes and Convos - June 25, 2019 from 7–9 p.m.

Posted on June 7, 2019, 1:52 p.m.

Dear members,

RNAO Halton Chapter would like to invite all nursing students and new graduates to come out for our annual networking and skills building event (snacks and dessert are provided) at Joseph Brant Hospital in the resource room (Level 1, across from the cafeteria) on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. This year’s event will include a budgeting & financial basics presentation by a registered nurse turned financial planner and a successful resumes presentation by a human resources expert. The presentations will end with a career planning session by a mental health RN involved in political advocacy who will be starting the UBC NP program in the fall.

Also, this year, the RNAO Halton Chapter would like to recognize two nursing students who demonstrate leadership skills by using their voices to advocate for issues relevant to nursing as well as enact the goals of the chapter. This year, the chapter focused on encouraging nurses towards evidence-informed practice as well as creating awareness about the determinants of health and their impact on the human condition. If you know of nursing students who centered their practice development in the areas of evidence-informed nursing and the determinants of health, you may want to consider nominating them.

Please write a 250-word reflection on why your nominated candidate is deserving of the RNAO Halton Chapter Nursing Student Recognition Award. In your email, please include the following: name of the nominee, name of school currently being attended and year in school. Please save your reflection of the candidate's nomination in a PDF format and then forward to rchahal@mcmaster.ca. The deserving candidates will receive a $100 gift and a certificate of recognition. The winner will be announced on June 25 at the Cakes and Convos event.

Note: This is a free event. Space is limited, please register in advance.
